After the division of the Peshawar board in 1990 BISE Abbottabad came into being following the northwest Frontier Province Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act 1990. It is running in its own frame on Murree Road, Abbottabad.
The purposes of the board are to give certificates and diplomas to persons who have passed its Examinations and to get such certificates and diplomas. Five districts, specifically Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, and Kohistan. This includes an area of 17,194 square kilometers and a community of 3.47 million.
